Terry's Thoughts August 2022
Summer is speeding by, and the activity of summer is occupying most of our time. Activity such as: annual VBS-es, vacations, mission trips, ramp building, serving our communities and the families within, and a host of other wonderful ministry activity. During this activity, we continue to discover a host of needs, both spiritual and physical, that the gospel of Jesus Christ can and will solve… if only we would be faithful to share that gospel. As a result, we have a choice to make: will we address these needs through the power of the gospel, or will we choose to ignore them, thus causing catastrophic eternal consequence for those who are without hope and without a Savior.
Fortunately, I have had the privilege of witnessing the saints of the WCBA step up to the plate and make a difference in the lives of many. Again, as said many times before, baptisms are up, mission giving is up, mission going is up, and therefore lives are being impacted with the gospel. With this said, let’s remember to stay focused on His will for our lives and not be distracted by the issues that are trying our loyalty, commitment, and faithfulness to the larger goal of ministering to the world with the gospel. To be sure, there are very serious issues that cannot be ignored and are not being ignored; however, I am choosing to focus on the issues in front of myself and our association, namely, the lost! Remember also that we cannot tackle the task of reaching the lost, discipling the saints, and impacting the world if we are not standing on the truth of the word and the power of the Holy Spirit. The pressure to acquiesce to the world’s standards is powerful; however, the power to resist this pressure is again found only in Jesus Christ and will lead us to overcome worldly challenges. I challenge you to join me in standing for the truth, showing others the truth of the word, showing others how to become children of God, and enjoying the movement of the Holy Spirit in our lives as well as our association.
Remember I love you and consider it an honor to serve the Lord and you!
